A new vision for our Isabel and Ava silhouettes, brought to life by Sasha Mei.
Following our first-ever collaboration, we sat down with Sasha Mei—the Toronto-based creative behind community collective and supper club, Yu+Mei—to discuss the design process, nostalgia-rich inspirations and exactly who she envisioned wearing these sophisticated silhouettes.

Shirting is effortless, which is probably the main word I'd use to describe my style. I'm not someone to really layer a lot or put much fuss into my outfits. I need something that’s timeless and always looks good. Shirting is just that.
The way I wear shirting is always a little bit oversized, a little bit rumpled and a little bit undone. My favourite way to wear a button-down shirt is with only one or two of the buttons done up and part of the shirt tucked. I wanted to go with a timeless fabric that looked a bit more masculine, a bit ‘borrowed from the boys.
On the Ava, I was drawn to the mocha fabric because it reminded me of memories of both my grandfathers—I remember both of them wearing that type of colour palette. For the lighter Isabel shirt, I wanted to do a stripe, but in a buttery colour. This shade is not too white and not too beige; it’s just perfect. Both fabrics are organic, luxurious and silky, and sourced from a Japanese mill.
We all knew the mocha fabric was very special, but none of us were sure how it would look on the sample. The moment we tried on the sample and saw it come together for the first time, we knew it was such a special piece!
One of the buttons on the left sleeve is sewn with a red thread. This is a symbol of good luck to wear with you wherever you go!
I feel kind of silly saying this, but I mostly had me in mind! I tend to wear button-down shirts in a more slouchy way, so I wanted to create something that would work nicely with my styling, yet could still be worn fitted regularly and look really flattering.
